WEDDING OFFICIANT // FOUNDER
Let me share with you the story of how I became a wedding officiant and how NEW YORK MARRIAGE BUREAU began.
I arrived in New York in 2014. New York had captured my heart at first sight during my time here as a student through the work and travel program in 2011. When I won the green card, there was no doubt in my mind about where I wanted to be – the bustling city of New York.
Upon arriving in 2014, I found myself without friends, relatives, experience, and even proficiency in English. My first priority was to secure a job. I became a manager in a wholesale company – not exactly my dream job, but a necessity to cover the high cost of living in New York.
Realizing she needed a wedding officiant for her work, she reached out to me while I was at my job. Inspired by her love for the TV show "Friends," she suggested, "Honey, do you remember how Joey got ordained online to marry Monica and Chandler, Phoebe and Mike? Maybe you can do that too? Can you please do some research? Bye, love you."
Working in an office environment turned out to be a dull experience for me, and I felt like I was slowly withering away. Everything changed when my wife joined me in New York. Back in Russia, she was a wedding planner, and her passion for the wedding business was something she wanted to continue in the city.
I promptly researched the idea and, within a week, obtained my license from the American Marriage Ministries. I managed to secure a day off from work to register myself with the city clerk's office in New York. On May 30, 2017, I officially became a licensed wedding officiant in New York.

It seems like every good and great thing in my life stems from the inspiration of my lovely wife, Anna.

During my practice, I have built many connections and collaborations with other wedding professionals in New York, namely photographers, videographers, makeup artists, musicians, and so on
Moreover, while responding to inquiries from my couples, I found that it would be convenient for them to book the entire package of services at once, rather than spending time searching for, for example, a photographer for the ceremony separately.
